MCEC’s symphony gives Melbourne the edge

Just like a finely-tuned orchestra, Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) comprises a large ensemble of talented individuals who all play their part to deliver a spectacular event performance.

This notion was brought to life before 300 international and domestic hosted buyers at the recent Melbourne Edge event for the 2017 Asia-Pacific Incentives and Meetings Expo in February.

MCEC’s Symphony of the Senses captivated attendees, which included a powerful live rendition of 'In the Hall of the Mountain King' by the Melbourne Philharmonic Orchestra. Paired with a dramatic audio-visual production, Symphony of the Senses showcased what happens behind the scenes to deliver world-class events at MCEC.

Record 2017 ahead

While construction on the venue’s expansion continues to progress, MCEC is also set to host another record year of events in 2017.

With over 1,100 events currently forecast for the calendar year, MCEC will surpass the 1,052 events hosted in 2016, with this number expected to increase even further in future years.

Some of the major international events to call MCEC home in 2017 include the 15th World Public Health Congress expecting over 3,000 attendees in April, the International Dragon Awards expecting over 5,000 attendees in August, and VidCon Australia with over 7,500 attendees expected in September.
