Win an End of Year Celebration at MCEC Conditions of entry


Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Trust (ABN 17 434 286 169), 1 Convention Centre Place, South Wharf VIC 3006.

Entry Restrictions

Open only to Australian residents aged 18 or over who are a principal or an authorised staff member of an Australian business operating in Australia with a valid ABN/ACN (Participating Business).

Directors, officers, management and employees (other than the principal or authorised staff member of the Participating Business) (and the immediate families of directors, officers, management and employees) of the Promoter, or of the agencies or companies associated with this competition are not eligible to enter.

Competition Period

9am (AEST) on 01/08/16 to 5pm (AEDT) on 30/11/16.

Entry Method

A Participating Business will be automatically entered into the competition if an authorised staff member or principal has, during the Competition Period:

  1. contacted the South Wharf Meetings and Events Sales team either by phone (03 9235 8222) or by email (
  2. made a booking for a new event to take place at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) for up to 500 guests/attendees including by quoting the promotional code “win with MCEC”;
  3. confirmed the booking by paying the security deposit in full (as determined by the Promoter); and
  4. held the new event within the Competition Period. (a Booking).
Draw Details

11am (AEDT) on 01/12/16 at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, Mezzanine Level, 1 Convention Centre Place, South Wharf, Melbourne, VIC 3006.

Winner Determination

The first valid entry randomly drawn from all valid entries received during the Competition Period will win the prize.

Prize Details

The prize is an end of year corporate celebration event package for up to 50 people at the MCEC valued at up to $6,600 (inc GST).

The prize will be awarded to the Participating Business in whose name the winning Booking was made.

The prize must be taken on a date to be agreed between the winning Participating Business and the Promoter, in either December 2016 or January 2017, subject to MCEC availability. The Promoter will not be responsible if the winning Participating Business does not receive the prize on its preferred date for any reason.

Prize Pool

The total prize pool is valued at up to $6,600 (inc GST).

Entry Limits

Entrants may enter as many times as they wish, provided that each entry is based on a separate Booking.

Bonus Entries

Participating Businesses may receive a bonus entry into the draw by referring another business to book an event with MCEC. For each business who makes a booking in accordance with the Entry Method and references their referral (i.e. the original Participating Business who referred them), the original Participating Business will receive 1 bonus entry into the competition.

Winner Notification and Publication

The winning Participating Business will be notified by phone and in writing immediately after the draw and their name and state/territory will be published at (Website) on 02/12/16 for a period of 28 days.

Prize Claim Date and Time

Prizes must be claimed by 11:59pm (AEDT) on 14/12/16.

Unclaimed Prize Draw Details

11am (AEDT) on 15/12/16 at the same location as the original draw.

Unclaimed Prize Draw Winner Notification and Publication

Any winning Participating Business in the Unclaimed Prize Draw will be notified by phone and in writing immediately after the draw and their name and state/territory will be published on the Website on 16/12/16 for a period of 28 days.

Information regarding prizes and how to enter forms part of these conditions. By entering, entrants accept these conditions.


The competition will be conducted during the Competition Period.


Entries must be received during the Competition Period. Entries are deemed to be received at the time they are received by the Promoter’s database and not at the time of submission by the entrant. The Promoter is not liable for late, lost, incomplete, incorrectly submitted, delayed, illegible, corrupted or misdirected entries, claims or correspondence due to error, omission, tampering, deletion, theft, communications failure or otherwise. The Promoter has no control over communications networks and is not liable for any problems associated with them due to traffic congestion, technical malfunction or otherwise. The Promoter is not liable for any consequences of user error including (without limitation) costs incurred. Entrants who enter using multiple email addresses or aliases may be disqualified. Customers are responsible for their own costs associated with accessing the Internet.


The draw will be conducted at the time, date and location as stated in the Draw Details.


The prize is an end of year corporate celebration event package valued at up to $6,600 (inc GST). The prize must be taken on a date to be agreed between the winning Participating Business and the Promoter in either December 2016 or January 2017, subject to MCEC availability. The prize package consists of:

  • 3 hour cocktail party (7pm – 11pm) in the Clarendon Room at MCEC for up to 50
  • 3 hour canapés menu;
  • 3 hour beverage package including wine, beer, soft drinks and juices; and
  • a festive lighting package.
Subject to not exceeding the Clarendon Room maximum capacity, additional guests may be added at an additional cost as incurred by the relevant Participating Business. The prize cannot be used for any purpose other than the stated end of year corporate celebration by the Participating Business and the Participating Business cannot transfer or use the valued of the prize for any other event booking (including the Participating Business’ entry booking). The prize will be subject to the Promoter’s standard venue terms and conditions.

The winning Participating Business will be notified in accordance with the Winner Notification and Publication.


The winning Participating Business, including the authorised staff member and/or the principals must, at the Promoter’s request, participate in all promotional activity (such as publicity and photography) surrounding the winning of the prize, free of charge, and they consent to the Promoter using their name and image in promotional material.


The Promoter may require authorised staff members and principals to provide proof of identity, proof of age, proof of residency at the nominated prize delivery address and proof that they are a staff member or principal of a Participating Business. Identification considered suitable for verification is at the Promoter’s discretion.


If a winning entry is deemed not to comply with these conditions of entry or if:

  1. the Participating Business ceases to operate, becomes insolvent or enters into
  2. the Promoter, acting reasonably, deems it inappropriate to award the prize to any form of administration either during the Competition Period or up until the time of taking the prize; the Participating Business due to such things as adverse publicity, reputational issues or damage/liability arising from the Participating Business’ Booking and event, set out in these terms and conditions; or
  3. the Booking is cancelled or amended so as not to comply with the requirements
  4. the security deposit for the Booking has not been paid in full, the entry may be discarded at the Promoter’s discretion and a new winner of the prize will be determined by the Promoter in accordance with paragraph 4.

The Promoter may, in its sole discretion, disqualify all entries from, and prohibit further participation in this competition by, any person who tampers with or benefits from any tampering with the entry process or with the operation of the competition or acts in violation of these conditions, acts in a disruptive manner or acts with the intent or effect of annoying, abusing, threatening or harassing any other person.


The Promoter’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.


At the time of entering into the competition, the authorised staff member shall be deemed to have represented to the Promoter that it is authorised to make the Booking on behalf of the Participating Business and that the Participating Business is aware of and has entered into this competition.


Prizes are not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be redeemed for cash. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any variation in prize value. If the prize is unavailable for any reason, the Promoter may substitute the prize another item of equal or higher value as determined by the Promoter, subject to the approval of the gaming authorities in each state and territory if required.


If the prize has not been accepted or claimed in accordance with the Prize Claim Date and Time, the relevant winning Participating Business’ entry will be deemed invalid and the Promoter will conduct such further draws in accordance with the Unclaimed Prize Draw Details as are necessary to distribute the prize, subject to any requirements of the gaming authorities in each state and territory. Any winning Participating Business in this draw will be notified as stated in the Unclaimed Prize Draw Winner Notification and Publication.


The Promoter and its associated agencies and companies will not be liable for any loss (including, without limitation, indirect, special or consequential loss or loss of profits), expense, damage, personal injury or death which is suffered or sustained (whether or not arising from any person’s negligence) in connection with this competition or accepting or using any prize, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law (in which case that liability is limited to the minimum allowable by law). Nothing in these conditions restricts, excludes or modifies or purports to restrict, exclude or modify any statutory consumer rights under any applicable law including the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth).


Without limiting the previous paragraph, the Promoter and its associated agencies and companies will not be liable for any damage or delay in transit to prizes.


The Promoter may communicate or advertise this competition using Facebook. This competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook. Entrants are providing their information to the Promoter and not to Facebook. Each entrant completely releases Facebook from any and all liability.


If for any reason any aspect of this competition is not capable of running as planned, including by reason of computer virus, communications network failure, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failure or any cause beyond the control of the Promoter, the Promoter may in its sole discretion cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the competition, or invalidate any affected entries, subject to the approval of the gaming authorities in each state and territory if required.


The Promoter encourages consumers to enjoy alcohol responsibly. Legal aged consumers are advised to consider the safe drinking levels recommended in the National Health and Medical Research Council Australian Guidelines to Reduce Health Risks from Drinking Alcohol. The Promoter is not liable for any tax implications arising from prize winnings. Independent financial advice should be sought. Where this competition involves, for GST purposes, supplies being made for non-monetary consideration, entrants will follow the Australian Taxation Office’s stated view that where the parties are at arm’s length, goods and services exchanged are of equal GST inclusive market values.


The information entrants provide will be used by the Promoter for the purpose of conducting this competition. The Promoter may disclose entrants’ personal information to its contractors and agents to assist in conducting this competition or communicating with entrants.  By entering this competition, entrants consent to the storage of their personal information on the Promoter’s database and the Promoter may use this information for future competition and marketing purposes, including contacting the entrant via electronic messaging.
