Southern Cross Station
Melbourne’s busy bus and train transport hub, Southern Cross Station was completed in 2006 and has won many awards for its distinctive wavy roof. Trains run from Southern Cross Station to Melbourne’s suburbs, country Victoria and interstate, and airport transfers run to Melbourne and Avalon airports. Travellers Aid Australia provides services for visitors to Melbourne, including clean, accessible toilets and rest rooms, change facilities, showers, stroller hire, and information on transport and accommodation in the city. As well as being a transport hub and gateway to Melbourne, the station has a number of retailers on site. Southern Cross Station is on the corner of Spencer and Bourke streets, and was formerly known as Spencer Street Station.
