Statement on industry staffing challenges

Like you, we’ve loved having events return. It’s been a joy to see our building alive with activity, and we look forward to welcoming more events as our city reopens to the world. 

But with this great news comes a few challenges. While we have moved beyond lockdowns, there are ongoing staff availability issues affecting our industry. This limited availability is a result of a reduced workforce following the pandemic and its effects on tourism and hospitality sectors, as well as isolation requirement for COVID-19 contacts. 

We’re not the only business facing this challenge. Events across Melbourne have had the same challenge throughout March and April, and the national tourism sector is down by an estimated 250,000 people.  

We are doing everything in our power to address these challenges and continue to deliver events to the standard you’ve come to expect, but for the time being we ask for your patience, understanding and flexibility as event changes may be necessary.  

We’re confident we can confront and overcome these challenges, and continue to deliver momentous events for our customers and the community.
