MCEC supports Bright Sparqe
Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) is proud to be supporting Australian based charity Bright Sparqe, who connects charities in need to businesses who have surplus products and food to donate.
Bright Sparqe simplifies the process of redistributing goods to charities, whilst assisting vulnerable communities and facilitating the reduction of waste.
MCEC has donated goods such as fresh milk, coffee plungers, serving spoons, consumables and cups and lids by creating an account and adding the details of products and unused food they wish to donate.
Once an item is submitted, charities can browse, claim and collect from MCEC in real-time.
MCEC Sustainability Manager Sam Ferrier said MCEC is thrilled to be supporting the use of an app that makes such a valuable contribution to the community.
“The event industry can be a wasteful one, and while we are doing our best to avoid waste in the first place, it’s great to be able to donate leftover and unwanted items to the local community, particularly when it can go to people in need.”
“MCEC started utilising the Bright Sparqe platform in March this year and made our first donations in April, which were all accepted rapidly by charities including Ronald McDonald House North Fitzroy, BK 2 Basics Melbourne, Theodora House INC and Souper Kitchen.”
Bright Sparqe’s Founder and Executive Director, Charbel Yamouni said he is thrilled to have businesses like MCEC stepping up and assisting people in need.
