Where to stay while you're here
MCEC is the only centre in Australia to offer on-site accommodation, with the five-star Pan Pacific Melbourne and four-star Novotel Melbourne South Wharf directly connected via private internal walkways. A huge range of additional accommodation can be found just a short walk away from MCEC.

Frequently asked questions

  • How should I prepare for security screening?

    It’s simple:

    • Finish any drinks before you enter the venue itself, as you’re not allowed to take open bottles in with you.
    • Have your bag open ready for inspection
    • For some events security wanding may be required if so
      • Take your phone, camera and any large metal objects out of your pockets and place them in the trays provided.
      • You don’t need to remove belts or shoes
    • Simply pass through the screening
  • What is your bag policy?
It is better for everyone if you do not bring a bag at all. We do not allow large bags into the Plenary and Goldfields Theatre but you will be permitted to take small bags and handbags in with you. We class small bags as no larger than 35cm x 40cm x 19cm or standard handbags.

If you have to bring a large bag, you can store it at one of our cloakrooms.
Cloakrooms close 30 minutes after the end of the event. We won’t hold your items overnight, so you must pick them up before the facility closes.
