Chief Executive, Peter King on Australian Government's Investment in Business Events

By Peter King|

The Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) has been part of an ongoing industry-wide conversation promoting federal government investment in the business events sector.

I am extremely pleased to hear the announcement today from Federal Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment, Steven Ciobo with regard to the introduction of Tourism Australia’s Business Events Bid Fund Program, which will see an investment of $12m across the next three years.

This fund will help our industry acquire international business events that will deliver significant economic benefit to our local communities.

Congratulations to all our industry partners within BECA (Business Events Council of Australia) and Tourism Australia’s Business Events team on successfully delivering this support.

This funding is in addition to the ongoing investment made by the Victorian Government in both new infrastructure at the MCEC and funding business events attraction has ensured Victoria will retain its position as a global leader in the business events space.
